Another New Web Server

Rie_Blink

Well shit son, the guy who does our ISP at the office died last week and everything has gone down the drain. I feel bad for the guy, but he really didn't have any backup up. He was a one man job; so no one else knows about the equipment or the accounts and stuff like that. I guess all that stuff will get swooped up by random people of by a collection people when they come and collect past due funds. Some really nice stuff he has out there, oh well. We got another ISP with our phone carrier and that seems to be working, but our bandwidth is limited by month. So I had to move a website that I was doing for someone else to a go daddy server. Later I found out that if you have a go daddy domain they normally give you free webhosting for it. It's limited to 10GB and 300GB bandwidth but that’s plenty. My site was never that popular anyways. So I moved my site to a go daddy server, now all my videos should be instant for most people. If they aren’t its because your internet sucks. I managed to put the site together just using ftp and php admin to setup the database stuff for the forums. Everything is working great, I'm a little impressed with my self. Either way I hope you all enjoy my shit. Blaw blaw, have a nice day.

New Web Server

Rie_Blink

It's been almost 2 years since the server died what a sad day that was. Long story short constant power outages killed my boot drive and since I only check the site when I post something new I didn’t know it was down for about a month. Once I found that the system was down I took it apart got a new drive ready with a fresh new OS and hooked everything up. I wanted to be crafty and move my site to a second drive so I could have more space for all my downloads and applications. Well some how I F’ed that up and formatted the drive that had the site on it. OMG after several weeks of trying to recover the files or locate a backup I gave up. I had a copy of the site but not the forums and that’s were the real meat of the site was. Lots and lots of code and videos on code all lost.

I felt that without that information there really was no point in putting the site back up. Well a year latter I’m still building stuff and making videos but I don’t have a place to post any of it. So I’ve decided to rebuild the site, I’m going to try and rebuild everything and post it back on the site. Except for the quick books stuff, that s!@# sucks I’ll just post the videos I have on that.

Desktop Blinker v1.4 (Updated for windows 7)

Rie_BlinkI remember a few years ago I download some programs called Windows Desktop Friends. They consisted of a few characters from Neo Genesis- Evangelion. The characters would sit on your window and blink their eyes. The properties consisted of a few other graphics that you could switch out with. The program was written in Japanese so the menu and text stuff was all messed up since I didn’t have the fonts for it. Either way the program was very unstable and crashed a lot freezing up the desktop at times. I finally decided it was time to make my own 7 year later. It took about 5hrs or coding, I've added a few more options that makes the program even better.

Windows Media Source Manager

About a week ago I was given the task of providing a website with a live surf cam. After getting all the hardware setup and running; my next challenge was to secure the feed so that I would not get leached off (hot linking).

At first I was using IIS6 but then switched to Apache because I found out about a .htaccess file that allows the administrator to configure and filter, rewrite, and redirect clients. After setting this up I then discovered that the embedded video players don’t transfer a ht-referer tag. This basically made all this useless to me. I tried just about every single type of embedded video player, and even tried a flash stream server but that failed. I was unable to obtain the video feed from the device.

Finally I decided to try and build a server side application that would move my video source around. I started using ASX files to mask my MMS: address. This worked great but when a client would click on the properties of the player it would display the ASX source address. I atemped to disable the right click event from the page and the players but this just slows a potential leecher down, it doesn’t stop them since you can turn these featurs off in firefox and other browsers.

This application was developed so that the web administrator could rename the asx file every few minutes and update an html page with the new link with out having to do it manualy.

AVPO Virus Remover

This one little nasty virus made it into our network one day and has been a pain in the ass to get rid of. It seems to transfer it self via USB flash drives and we have tried Kaspersky, AGV and Bit defender. But the little bugger keeps on making its way onto our systems.

Normally I would run around to each system and manually remove this virus but that has become tired some. I’ve searched online for an AVPO virus remover program; but the one I found requires .Net 3.0. I don’t like 3.0 so here it is in .Net 2.0

So I decided to make my own, and in doing so I added a few more fixes and a little preventability.

For more information read the readme file that is included in the download. All the information about the effected registry keys and files are listed in the readme.

ProjectEve 2009

Eve Online

The (Eve Market Scanner) is a simple program the reads a market log file and then searches for the best deal; and it also searches for the best buyer.

Since the market log contains both sellers and buyers; the software searches and compares each record looking for the most profit.

It also takes into account the volume space of the market in question and makes sure you can fit it in your ship.

The end result is a list of all the market objects and the possible profit for each.
Using this summary list one can quick scan the list and find what items are giving the most profit via buy and resale.

Update the software now returns back the station name for buy and sell.

Product Spotlight - Warhammer Online Beta!

Well after being bored once again, I decided to try and come up with a way that a group of friends can play some D&D over the net. Not like the D&D games that our out their like the Boulders gate series. I mean just good old fashion GM style playing. Well after about a weeks work of coding in Dark Basic pro I have completed it. This software allows up to 8 players to join a D&D game over the net, allowing everyone to chat with one another using text. They all have the same screen and can see any movements made by the GM or another player on their virtual table. Now I know what your thinking, that's going to be slow because you have to type everything. Well this program was built in mind of having a voice communication program running in the background like team speak. Now put both of those together and you should have a decent environment to play some good old fashion D&D with a few friends over the net. Aye the true NERD inside us all is jumping with anticipation.  I've left the code open source to share the coding for it. The exe file included in the zip file is fully functional. Would like to thank IanM for his code contribution to the code base forum's at the Dark Basic site.
